The international certification body DNV has renewed Fonderie di Montorso‘s Integrated Management System for a further three years. This covers the EN ISO 9001 quality management system, the EN ISO 14001 environmental management system and the EN ISO 18001 occupational health and safety management system.
Regarding quality and the environment, the Montorso and Crevalcore plants have moved to the new 2015 standard this year. In view of continuous improvement and increasing the ability to meet internal and external needs, the standard has changed to give more weight to the context in which companies operate and all their stakeholders. Specifically, from an environmental perspective, the new standard extends its focus to the supply chain for even more responsible management.
The outcome of the visit was very positive and the inspectors noted several positive aspects in all three fields.
In terms of quality, they especially appreciated the level of integration achieved in the Montorso and Crevalcore plants, the integrated balance sheet and the definition of company goals and a business plan. Regarding safety, they appreciated the continual introduction of the latest machinery into the production process, the careful and effective maintenance management and the awareness of supervisors and operators. At an environmental level, the inspectors underlined the company’s expertise in these areas, the significant investments aimed at improving the quality of the internal work environment and mitigating external impact, and the great attention to the needs of the local area.
The goal for 2019 is to extend the safety management system certification (system certified in 2012 at the Montorso plant) to the Crevalcore production site.
