Integrated logistics to further improve delivery times

Having full control over the situation, even when work is outsourced to subcontractors, means ensuring that the customer gets an increasingly efficient and prompt service.

“Reinforcing internal production”, explains Pietro Arnaboldi, operation manager, “required us to check our internal and external finishing capacity. This led us to move towards integrated logistics to further optimise the relationships with our suppliers”.

The SAP management system, already applied in all business areas of Fonderie di Montorso, has proved to be the ideal tool to meet also this logistics requirement.
The IT division of Fonderie di Montorso, in partnership with the SAP developers, is creating an innovative dashboard dedicated to subcontractors, and which they will access to update all the information about the work in progress.

“It is more than just a simple consultation platform”, continues Arnaboldi, “but a bilateral exchange tool, through which the supplier will always have clear information about the order, while Fonderie di Montorso will have a real-time 360° view of the work status and a forecast of the delivery times”.

Following the testing phase in September-October on a supplier that we have already identified, we intend to extend the system to all the others in November.

“A focus on our customers, precise delivery times and full control over the whole logistics flow”, concludes Arnaboldi, “are our main goals. This comes through involving our suppliers more heavily in the production cycle, making them strategic partners with which we cooperate to achieve the end result and with which we share the same quality standards”.
